Cabaret, the Broadway musical, is set in a seedy Berlin nightclub in the 1930's. It is the story of an American writer (Cliff) who comes to Berlin at the rise of the Nazi era. He meets a British cabaret performer (Sally Bowles), the Kit Kat Klub's former star attraction, and takes her as his roommate. As he writes his novel, he witnesses the blindness of the Germans who allow Nazism to take control while they are "fast asleep." A sub-plot involves the tragic relationship between Fraulein Schneider, a German woman, and her Jewish suitor, Herr Schultz.
The show featured Jen Bowen as Sally Bowles, Steve Damboise as Cliff Bradshaw and Brian Waldron as the Kit Kat Club's Emcee. Also appearing are Tina Cassidy, Rosemary Dann, Trevor Efinger, Traci Flaherty, Christine Frydenborg, Carryl Hauser, Holly Laurent, Paul Metzger, Donna O'Bryant, Steve Riley, Rich Rothbell, and Joe Vago.
